hey elle!

you can either use the locked loop method, but fold the hair about an inch from the end to maximise the overall length obtained, or you could try the knot method.

the knot method involves simply tying a knot at the end of each lock of hair and dabbing a tiny bit of glue on it. you then pull the lock of hair through with a crochet hook so that the knot is against the underside of the scalp. this maximises length. you just have to be careful that your knots are very small so that you don't create too much bulk - you have to be able to get that scalp back on again!

Hope this helps. i'll try to do some more photo tutorials in future.

I was wondering... are you doing a lock method? I got mohair that is only 5-6 inches in length, I loved the colour so I couldn't bear to pass it up, but it didn't occur to me until after, that it's only going to be like 2.5-3 inches in length once I'm done. Do you have any ideas how I could maximize the length of her locks... could I just glue the hair on the inside of her scalp (this sounds horrific to me now, but can't think of anything else!)

hey there somedolly! whether you fill every hole depends on how thick you want the hair to be. if you skip holes, the hair will be very fine. that's probably your best bet if you're going to straighten the hair after you're done. Happy rooting!

Wonderful info :D Do you fill every hole when using the 0.6mm hook? I can't quite tell from the photo.
